We’re passionate about helping you enjoy sport!

Meet Saaz

Chairperson

I have a passion for encouraging brown women to engage in sports. Fitness has always been a vital part in my life. I thank my father for pushing me to stay active and compete at a State level in swimming. But, I realise not every brown woman is actively encouraged to participate in sports. I hope this Club can be a support system for Sikh women who want to be active and play sports.

I am an internationally qualified swimming coach and I am currently doing a PhD at the University of Sydney in Sport Analytics.

Meet Nikki

My passion is to help brown women of all ages, shapes, and fitness levels to get up and moving. I want to help them find enjoyment out of fitness and what works for them.

I am dedicated to motivating brown women to try new things when it comes to fitness. My enjoyment came about when I began to jump rope, and it also inspired many others to pick up a rope and try!

I work a 9-5 job in marketing, so I understand how finding time for yourself during a hectic day-to-day life can be hard. This is what Kaur Sports is all about — giving brown women with busy lives a space to get into sport and fitness without a fear of judgement.

Deputy Chairperson

Meet Sajnoor

I am dedicated to creating inclusive spaces for brown women. From a young age I played netball, but always felt like the odd one out. I rarely saw girls who looked like me in my sport club and professional teams. In my senior years of high school, I made the tough decision to temporarily step back from netball to excel academically, a choice I wish I didn’t have to make. I believe both sport and academics can be simultaneously pursued.

It wasn’t until I had the opportunity to captain and play in the Sikh Games netball team that I truly felt a sense of belonging in a sport I love. Today, I am not only studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, but I also continue to lead the netball team, fostering lasting friendships with inspiring brown girls. My goal is to create similar empowering opportunities for other young Punjabi girls who may share my experiences. I want to promote physical and mental wellbeing through sport and exercise. I hope this Club provides other girls the support when facing similar choices around balancing sport and academic pursuits.

Meet Prisha

I’m a passionate advocate for the joy of dance and sports, with a deep commitment to sharing this enthusiasm with fellow brown women. I thank my parents for not only fostering my skills in sport, but bhangra and giddha as well.

From a young age, my parents instilled in me a strong sense of equality by enrolling both my brother and I in swimming. When he gravitated towards soccer, I chose netball, and found myself as the only brown girl on the team. Later, when I switched to soccer with my best friend, my parents wholeheartedly supported my decision and cheered me on every step of the way.

It’s disheartening to witness that not all my Indian friends had the same opportunities. This is why my mission is to follow in my parents footsteps and empower brown women to break boundaries and find joy in any sport or dance of their choice.

Cinthia

Bhangra/Giddha fitness class coordinator

Dancing since age 5, my deep love for Bhangra and Giddha drives me. By keeping my passion for dance alive, I am constantly nurturing my inner child and staying connected with my feminine. In a male dominated world, sometimes a little grace and passion is all you need!

I would love to connect and collaborate with girls and women to lead fitness workshops that include Bhangra. Not only is Bhangra a very effective form of exercise, it stimulates the release of endorphins, the body’s natural mood lifters, leading to feelings of immense happiness and euphoria!

I’ve just completed by Bachelor in Nursing and will begin working as a Paediatric Registered Nurse.

Rabnoor

Nutrition and lifestyle informatics coordinator

You can only unlock your true potential once you take charge of your life. Post graduating high school, I was struggling to navigate life and find a career path which spoke out to me. Being on my own health and weight-loss journey at the time, I found a deep rooted passion for health and self-development and unlocked a potential to help others.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutrition and Dietetic Medicine at a College of Natural Health. We all have an abundance of goals we wish to pursue but often forget to take care of the very few things that will enable us to strive for them - our mind, body, and soul! My aim is to empower people by encouraging a healthy lifestyle and powerful mindset.
